Entre utopie\, libération sexuelle et revendication de l’individualité\, que nous reste-t-il des événements de mai\, 50 ans après ? \nCette 16e édition entend interroger l’héritage et les dérives de Mai 68 tout en mettant en exergue différentes formes de contestation possibles\, tant sur le plan individuel que collectif\, et fera la part belle aux disciplines nées de la rue. \nQuel autre quartier de Bruxelles aurait pu mieux symboliser la contestation que les Marolles ? Rappelez-vous : en 1969\, la bataille de la Marolle voyait les habitants s’opposer à leur expropriation en vue de l’extension du Palais de Justice. Le quartier est depuis devenu le symbole d’une résistance populaire face à la bureaucratie et aux décideurs politiques. NUIT BLANCHE s’invite donc dans ce coin de la capitale pour dialoguer avec les plus contestataires des Bruxellois. \nDans le cadre de 2018\, Année de la Contestation\n_______________________________________ \n[NL]\nHet streven naar een utopie\, seksuele bevrijding en de roep om individualiteit\, wat blijft er 50 jaar later nog over van mei ’68? \nTijdens deze 16de editie worden de erfenis en gevolgen van mei ’68 in vraag gesteld en worden verschillende mogelijke vormen van contestatie belicht\, zowel individueel als collectief\, waarbij wordt ingezoomd op de bewegingen die spontaan op straat zijn ontstaan. \nIn de kader van 2018\, jaar van de contestatie.

SUMMARY:Premiere: Unknown\, I Live With You [FREE ENTRY]
DESCRIPTION:“Unknown\, I Live With You” is an opera installation for female voices\, a string quartet and live electronics composed by Katarina Glowicka and directed by Krystian Lada. Inspired by Afghan female writers’ poems\, this project amplifies the basic human right to freely tell one’s own story. This new creation fuses the dramatic power of opera with the impact of socially engaged art in an unusual\, immersive format. It involves opera singers\, dancers\, a string quartet and live electronica in a staged opera installation in the architecture of a former chapel in Brussels – Les Brigittines – Playhouse for Movement. \nIn Taliban-held Afghanistan\, writing\, and any form of musical expression\, has been considered a crime. The poems by three contemporary Afghan female writers are at the heart of this project. Roya\, Meena Z.\, Fattemah AH and Freshta are participants of the Afghan Women’s Writing Project (AWWP). AWWP was founded in 2009 in order to encourage Afghani women to develop their voices and write their own narratives\, striving to change the narrative of women’s rights in Afghanistan in the process. Through AWWP\, Afghan women have a direct voice in the world\, not filtered through husbands\, relatives or the media. Most of the writers participate in the project secretly. Their poems are raw\, often devastating\, and always brave in depicting the live under the niqab.
