Ne vivons-nous pas dans un temps où, malgré les censures morales et les étou antes restrictions économiques et sociales, la scène navigue voiles dehors comme un navire sur l’océan des possibles ?

Beaucoup de pièges se dressent devant les créateurs : les brouillards sont menaçants en cette époque où l’on confond réalité et ction, vérité et mensonge et où l’insigni ance est un laisser-passer universel. C’est au cœur de leur ré exion que les artistes subissent l’ascendant d’un courant d’approximations et d’amalgames racoleurs. Le réel et ses réseaux plombent : une certaine force nous est requise à tous pour résister à cette influence pernicieuse.

Pour être vraiment libres, auteurs, metteurs en scène et chorégraphes ne doivent-ils pas s’autoriser de rompre avec le monde pour le réinventer?

N’est-ce pas lorsqu’elle lâche la bride à l’imagination et à l’imprévu, au fantasme et au basculement des évidences que la scène vit à sa plus haute intensité et qu’elle a le plus à o rir au spectateur ?

Het Internationaal Festival van Les Brigittines zet in op een rit langsheen diverse podiumvormen: ongewone talen en universums, bijzondere vormen.

ZO VRIJ ALS WE MORGEN ZULLEN BLIJKEN TE ZIJN

Leven we niet in een tijd waarin de podiumkunsten, ondanks de morele censuur en de verstikkende economische en sociale maatregelen, alle zeilen bijzetten en varen op de oceaan van wat mogelijk is?

De kunstenaar moet echter beducht zijn voor de vele hinderlagen: zo is er de dreigende mist in deze tijd waarin realiteit en ctie, waarheid en leugen met elkaar worden verward en waarin de zinledigheid een universele vrijgeleide is. Het is in het hart van hun re ectie dat de kunstenaars de invloed voelen van die ontelbare ronselende en kortzichtige verzinsels. De realiteit en haar overvloed aan sociale media werken belemmerend: het vergt een zekere kracht van ons allen om te weerstaan aan deze schadelijke invloed.

Moeten auteurs, regisseurs en choreografen, willen ze écht vrij zijn, zichzelf niet toestaan om te breken met de wereld en haar vervolgens opnieuw uit te vinden?

Is het niet wanneer de verbeelding de vrije loop wordt gelaten en er ruimte is voor het onverwachte, voor droombeelden of ook wanneer zekerheden in vraag worden gesteld dat de podiumkunsten op het hoogtepunt van hun intensiteit komen en het meeste te bieden hebben aan de toeschouwer?

Laat dit nu onze grootste wens zijn.

Don’t we live in a time in which, despite moral censorship and sti ing economic and social restrictions, the theatre is in full sail like a ship on the ocean of possibilities?

There are many traps set for creators: fog threatens in an era in which reality and ction, truth and lies, become confused, and in which insigni cance is a universal free pass. At the core of their re ection, artists are subjected to a rising current of approximations and lurid con ations. The real and its networks hold us back; we must all have a certain strength to resist this pernicious in uence.

To be truly free, don’t authors, directors, and choreographers need to allow themselves to break with the world to reinvent it?
Isn’t it when the theatre gives free rein to the imagination and the unexpected, to fantasy and to overturning foregone conclusions that it is at its strongest and has the most to o er its audience?

That is our desire!
