Opening, Alex Voinea – Solo show

Alex Voinea’s brilliant abstract paintings reflect a life marked by resourcefulness and passion. His artistic journey has been inspired by experimentation, for example, paint poured over vibrating surfaces (such as speakers at full volume) which projects splashes and streams of color in space. Fading backgrounds create depth and perspective in his abstract work, but with an almost hyper-realist definition, in which Voinea transmits a vibrancy of motion through drippings and large sweeping brushstrokes. Movement and fluidity are brought
to his paintings through the use of various saturated and fluorescent colors. In Voinea’s words, « What interests me is to create and freeze in a moment in time a vibrant universe with a big bang of colors. » Voinea is interested in the physics of materials and the purity of pigments in their various states and how they respond to the different circumstances and situations that he creates. However, beneath it all is what he describes as a « restless energy » that drives and is captured in his current work. Alex Voinea’s paintings have been exhibited and admired throughout Europe and the United States, including in Brussels, Paris, Milan, London, New York and Los Angeles.
